The Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, was the epicenter of the TNA wrestling world this past Thursday night. The March 5 episode of TNA Thursday Night iMPACT delivered a high-octane card featuring two high-stakes championship defenses, a chaotic tag team showdown to determine the next challengers for The Hardys, and several intense verbal confrontations that set the stage for upcoming events.

With the TNA Knockouts World Championship and the X-Division Championship on the line, alongside the return of Frankie Kazarian’s talk show and a major announcement regarding the TNA World Championship, the show was packed with moments that fans are already talking about.

Here is a complete breakdown of everything that happened on this explosive night in Atlanta.

Knockouts Championship: Arianna Grace Retains Under Controversial Circumstances

The night kicked off with a major title fight as Arianna Grace stepped into the ring for her first defense of the TNA Knockouts World Championship since capturing the belt at No Surrender. Her challenger was the hard-hitting Jody Threat, who earned this opportunity by outlasting over ten other competitors in a Number One Contenders Battle Royal last month.

The match began in chaotic fashion. As the ring announcer was doing the formal introductions, Grace attacked Threat from behind, immediately seizing the advantage. Grace worked over Threat’s midsection with shoulders in the corner and locked in a variation of a Half Boston Crab to wear down her opponent.

Threat fought back valiantly, landing a kick to Grace’s head followed by a series of knees to the back of the neck. A powerful Falcon Arrow gave Threat a near-fall and the momentum seemed to swing in her direction. When Grace retreated to the outside to seek a strategic kiss from her associate, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Threat launched herself through the ropes with a crossbody that took out both Grace and Stacks.

With several fellow Knockouts—including Dani Luna and Xia Brookside—watching intently from ringside, the finish came in controversial fashion. Grace produced a loaded “cobra” similar to the one famously used by Santino Marella. Threat managed to grab it, but in the confusion, Grace rolled her up from behind and secured the pinfall to retain her title.

Result: Arianna Grace defeats Jody Threat to retain the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

The Elegance Brand Under Fire: Tensions Boil Over

Following the title match, The Elegance Brand made their way to the ring for a segment that quickly spiraled out of control.

The Personal Concierge opened by apologizing for the absence of Ash By Elegance, citing mental health reasons. However, Heather By Elegance grabbed the microphone and expressed frustration with the crowd’s reaction, declaring that Ash was her hero and best friend. M By Elegance then took aim at Knockouts legend Mickie James, claiming that the “era of elegance” had arrived and dismissing James’s legacy.

The segment took an unexpected turn when M By Elegance singled out a fan in the crowd—Mama June—and began hurling insults, calling her presence “offensive.” This prompted a response from the hard-hitting veteran ODB, who emerged from the crowd near her food truck.

ODB stood up for June and James, leading to a heated exchange. When M and Heather called them “disgusting,” ODB invited them to step up. What followed was a brief but satisfying brawl, with ODB leveling both M and Heather with kicks before retrieving a cooler from ringside. She handed cups of meat to June and her family, who gleefully dumped the contents over The Elegance Brand members, leaving them humiliated in the ring.

Tag Team Turmoil: The System Secures a Title Shot

The action continued with a high-stakes Four-Way Tag Team Number One Contenders Match to determine who would face The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

The participating teams were:

  • The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch)
  • Sinner and Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams)
  • Rich Swann and BDE
  • The System (Bear Bronson and Brian Myers)

The match was a chaotic affair from the opening bell, with all four teams showcasing their unique styles. BDE and Travis Williams started the action, exchanging momentum before tagging in their respective partners.

Highlights included Rich Swann delivering a picture-perfect blockbuster, The Righteous double-teaming their opponents, and a series of devastating finishers that kept the referee busy counting near-falls. In the closing moments, Bronson and Myers isolated BDE. Myers connected with a spear, and Bronson followed up with an over-the-shoulder cutter to secure the victory.

Result: The System wins the four-way match, becoming the Number One Contenders for the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

Moose and Alisha Edwards Unite Against The System

Following their victory, The System celebrated, but the celebration was short-lived. Moose and Alisha Edwards made their way to the ring for a heated promo segment.

Moose addressed his recent expulsion from The System, calling out the group for turning on him when he outshone them. After acknowledging some Atlanta Falcons legends in the crowd, he laid out a bold plan of attack. He announced that next week, he would face Cedric Alexander in an Atlanta Street Fight. He then called out Brian Myers, Bear Bronson, and finally Eddie Edwards, promising to destroy them one by one.

Alisha Edwards then took the microphone in a moment that felt deeply personal. She revealed that she had been hiding behind The System for two years, but she no longer recognized the men that Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers had become. She credited Moose for encouraging her to bet on herself and declared her intention to stand alongside him as he dismantled the group.

Moose closed the segment with a promise to beat Eddie Edwards in front of his own wife, delivering his signature catchphrase: “That’s a fact of life, from me.”

Elayna Black Secures Victory with Brass Knuckles

Back from a commercial break, the show returned to a backstage confrontation involving Order 4 and several other wrestlers, setting the stage for future conflicts.

The next match featured Mara Sadè against Elayna Black in a hard-fought singles contest. Both women showcased their striking ability early on, exchanging chops and shoulder tackles. Sadè gained the upper hand with a series of dropkicks, but Black responded by targeting Sadè’s spine and neck on the mat.

The action spilled to the outside, where Sadè delivered a springboard crossbody through the ropes. She then ascended to the top rope, looking for a high-risk maneuver. Black cut her off, however, executing a devastating Canadian Destroyer from the top.

As the match reached its climax, Black attempted to use a chair, which the referee confiscated. Showing a cunning side, Black then retrieved a pair of brass knuckles hidden in the turnbuckle. She managed to connect with them as Sadè attempted to scoop her up, and used the advantage to secure the pinfall.

Result: Elayna Black defeats Mara Sadè.

The King’s Speech: Elijah Confronts Kazarian Amid Chaos

Frankie Kazarian brought back his popular segment, “The King’s Speech With Frankie Kazarian,” with Elijah as his guest.

Kazarian welcomed Elijah to the ring and engaged the crowd, asking who wanted to “Walk With Elijah.” Elijah reflected on his brutal Guitar Casket Match against Mustafa Ali from the previous week, stating that such battles change a man. He reaffirmed his connection with the TNA fans, declaring that they walk this way together.

The segment took an unexpected turn when Kazarian got in Elijah’s face, reminding him that he was speaking to a “king.” Before tensions could escalate further, AJ Francis appeared on the entrance ramp, carrying The Hometown Man on his shoulder. The Hometown Man escaped and attempted to fight back, but Francis delivered a devastating chokeslam, throwing him off the entrance ramp and onto the floor below.

X-Division Championship: Leon Slater Outlasts Nic Nemeth

The main event of the evening featured Leon Slater defending his X-Division Championship against the challenge of Nic Nemeth, who was accompanied by his brother Ryan Nemeth.

The match was a showcase of everything the X-Division represents—speed, athleticism, and a refusal to accept limits. Both men exchanged early reversals, with Nemeth using his experience to ground the high-flying champion. Slater responded with a springboard back elbow and attempted a crossbody over the top rope, but Ryan Nemeth interfered by grabbing his ankle, allowing Nic to gain a brief advantage.

After a commercial break, the action intensified. Slater ascended for his signature 450 Splash, but Nemeth moved and Slater transitioned mid-air into a Styles Clash. He followed up with a 450 Splash, but Nemeth kicked out.

The champion showed incredible resilience, kicking out of a sleeper hold and a superkick before mounting his final offense. Slater sent Nemeth crashing off the ropes and delivered a devastating combination—a 450 Splash followed immediately by a Swanton Bomb—to secure the victory.

Result: Leon Slater defeats Nic Nemeth to retain the X-Division Championship.

Post-Match Attack: Eric Young Stakes His Claim

As Slater celebrated his hard-fought victory, danger lurked behind him. Eric Young appeared from the crowd and blindsided the champion, delivering a vicious piledriver on the arena floor. The attack left Slater crumpled at ringside and sent a clear message that Young is targeting X-Division gold.

World Championship Update: Santana vs. Maclin Set for Sacrifice

The final segment of the evening saw Mike Santana make his way through the crowd to address the TNA Universe. Santana called out Director of Authority Santino Marella, demanding that he reinstate Steve Maclin so they could settle their differences.

Instead of Marella, Director of Operations Daria Rae appeared. She acknowledged Maclin’s contributions to TNA and officially reinstated him, but informed Santana that she would decide when and where the match would take place.

Marella then appeared and made the announcement official: Mike Santana will defend the TNA World Championship against Steve Maclin at TNA Sacrifice on March 27.

Santana, unfazed by the bureaucracy, delivered a final message to Maclin: whenever he steps into the Gateway Center Arena, Santana will brawl with him on sight.
